Cough Augmentation & Secretion Management


Description

During this 25-minute recording filmed at the 2024 MND Special Interest Group Workshop, Adem Suljovic provides practical insights and evidence-based tips in utilising various cough augmentation and secretion clearance strategies in the MND patient population. This includes, mechanical in-exsufflation (cough assist) machines, intra-pulmonary percussive ventilation (IPV) devices, lung volume recruitment and suction machines.

Adem Suljovic has worked as a senior Physiotherapist in Liverpool’s ICU for 3-years prior to transitioning into SWS Local Health District’s new community Neurodegenerative Disease Supportive Care (NDSC) service. It is through his time in this service that he has developed a strong passion for the respiratory management of the MND community, in particular respiratory failure, cough augmentation and secretion management.
